The Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) annually recognizes an everyday hero in state school districts with the Fred Award.
The KASA Fred Award is inspired by Fred Shea, the subject of Mark Sanborn’s national bestseller The Fred Factor. Given each year to any non-administrative staff member, student or volunteer, a Fred Award winner is someone who embodies the four principles outlined in the book:
- make a positive difference each day
- have a heart for people
- change ordinary moments into memorable ones
- lead by example
All award finalists will be recognized in July at the 2011 KASA Annual Summer Institute with a commemorative award. Finalists also receive a $250 scholarship to apply to the school program of their choice, and the winner receives $500 to apply to the school program of his or her choosing.
Any KASA member may submit a nomination. The deadline is March 1.
The nomination form for the Fred Award is available online.
